Every year there is a certain time of year that has a tendency to make people feel a little more vulnerable, lonely, and depressed. That time of year starts now. The holiday season seems to magnify what you don’t have. Whether it be friends that you can count on, family that is nearby, money to purchase gifts for loved ones or a job that makes you happy, we all do soul searching this time of year. There are other factors that play a role in holiday depression such as less sun light, increased alcohol consumption because of holiday parties and fatigue
There are ways to counter this holiday depression. Below is a list of things you can do to fight holiday depression.
-Stick to as normal of a schedule as possible
-If you are going to eat and drink at holiday parties, do so in moderation
-Get plenty of sleep
-Exercise regularly
-Keep yourself on a financial budget and don’t overextend yourself
-Surround yourself with friends and family but also take time to yourself.
Remember that if the Holidays are a hard time of a year for you, that they are temporary and things will go back to normalcy soon.
